“All the news that’s fit to print” was the slogan of the New York Times, and that’s something we try to adhere to in the Laudable Podcasts newsletter.
With so many new podcast episodes coming out, sometimes we run out of room, even though we try to fit it to print!
This week’s newsletter shows just a small selection of our repertoire, and we will continue to update you about our amazing work that we are very proud about. This isn’t a humble drag; it’s a full on brag!
There are some new beginnings for Scran with the fresh episode dishing up its new makeover. You’ll hear from two top Scottish chefs about the culinary delights they serve up in their restaurants.
The summer holidays are here, and parents in the Midlands should look no further than the Brummie Mummies podcast, which offers recommendations on where to take your family over the break.
And The Steamie looks at Scottish independence referenda past and potentially future, speaking to a key figure from IndyRef1.
🍽️ Fresh Scran!
It's all about new beginnings for Scran this week - the podcast has had a wonderful makeover for its artwork and this week's theme corresponds nicely.
Presenter Rosalind chats with two well-known chefs who have recently moved to take up new positions in some rather exciting new restaurants in Scotland.
In the latest episode of Scran, host Rosalind Erskine sits down to chat about food, career moves, crisps, whisky and nurturing new talent.
First up is Derek Johnstone, who was the first winner of MasterChef: The Professionals, he has recently moved from his role at Borthwick Castle, an exclusive-use venue near Gorebridge to take over and develop three restaurants within the Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews.
Also earlier this year, Mark Donald left his role as head chef of the Michelin starred Number One Restaurant at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh to take on an executive head chef role at the soon to open Lalique restaurant at The Glenturret Distillery.
Mark and Derek talk about their new roles, what diners can expect, what the best crisps are (!) and their advice for newcomers to the industry.
☀️ Summertime at Brummie Mummies
The latest offering from Birmingham Live’s parenting podcast Brummie Mummies shares all the brilliant things to do in and around the Midlands this summer.
This summer will hopefully offer a first chance to do lots of things that many of us haven’t been able to do for a long time, after months of nationwide lockdowns and ever changing restrictions.
Unlike previous summers where we’ve been able to get up in the morning, see what the weather’s doing and where our mood’s might take us, we do need to do a little more forward planning this time, as most places require pre-booking.
So we’ve put together this guide to help you plan your holidays!
Join host Zoe Chamberlain and producer Matt Millard as they run through all the best family-friendly things to do this summer around the Midlands.
Zoe also finds out about a massive free activity programme happening across Birmingham, as she chats to programme director Jenny Carter all about how to get involved.
🗳️ “Scotland should know what another No vote would mean”
For all you news junkies and current affairs hounds, this week's The Steamie has a super-insightful look at goings on around the previous and future independence referenda in Scotland.
In the latest episode of our Scottish politics podcast, presenter Conor Matchett is joined by Ciaran Martin, who was the constitution director in the Cabinet Office between 2011 and 2014 and formed part of the Whitehall team which negotiated the terms of the 2014 referendum.
Listen to how he believes the future relationship of Scotland and the rest of the UK in the event of a second No vote should be agreed prior to any future vote.
Alexander Brown also joins Conor to chat about the England football team and racism.
I think we just about managed to fit all our news to print this week. Keep an eye out on future Laudable Podcasts newsletter as we update you about our amazing shows and brand new episodes.
Have a fab weekend, and in the meantime, stay safe, stay positive, stay informed, and stay tuned.
